Google Launch Map Maker
admin June 27th, 2008
Google has announced a new string to their already heavily strung Google Maps bow; they are giving cartography enthusiasts the opportunity to contribute to Google Maps by building high quality maps for regions that do not already have comprehensive recordings.
In the same nature as Wikipedia Google Map Maker allows users to work together to build up maps; it promises to be an easy-to-use tool to build high quality maps of neighbourhoods, cities and countries. People can add, edit and moderate most features on maps including roads, lakes, parks, points of interest, businesses, cities and localities, and people will be able to trace many of these features using satellite images; as users trace, maps are immediately updated.
