Microsoft secure a deal with HP

admin June 5th, 2008

Microsoft have secured a deal with the world’s largest PC manufacturer to have Live Search installed as the default search engine on all Hewlett Packard PCs in the US and Canada. The agreement will take effect from January 2009 and will replace the existing agreement that HP has with Yahoo!.

In recent months Microsoft failed in their attempt to acquire Yahoo! and is now attempting to compete with Google and Yahoo! in the search engine stakes; they do, however, have a long way to go if they plan to beat Google as it has just been revealed that Google handle about 62% of all US search enquiries and that figure is closer to 90% in the UK.
