Going Digital - get found by your readership

As we already know many well known titles are now going digital and setting up shop online.
Newspapers and magazines are now putting themselves online and letting their reader’s access up to the minute news and information for free or offering online subscriptions. As with the newsstand, competition amongst publications is fierce; and with the current rise of sophisticated online magazines or ‘webzines’ and blogs the competition has never been greater.
It is no longer a case of having a breaking story or more cost efficient price; it is about also combining good design with the ability to be found by your readership. One high profile broadsheet newspaper has openly criticised SEO implying that they are not using search engine optimisation services, as a result this newspaper has found itself losing in the search engine wars falling back to page 2 of the results for “online newspaper”; proving that excellent journalism does not necessarily guarantee first place online.
