New Media in the Digital Age

Friday, February 13th, 2009

I am sure Andrew and John are both very happy to say that their presentation at the Glasgow Media Week is done and dusted, and without a hitch!

There was a fairly good turn out, for a Friday afternoon, and we were pleasantly surprised to find that the audience consisted of a nice mix of students from a variety of different fields.

The talk looked at the amalgamation between the traditional media and the ‘new media’; discussing the merits of blogging, podcasting and online PR for smaller businesses and also gave a little info on how someone can get a career in the online industry. There was a positive response from the audience, and we are happy to have had the opportunity to provide some advice and guidance to people considering a career in the online marketing industry.

Social Media Breaking Hearts All Over

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

We in the office consider breaking up with a loved one via text being a pretty scum bag thing to do, now new research has shown that love rats are sinking to new lows to do the deed. Only last week the BBC reported a man who ended his six year marriage on Facebook!

Mobile Social Network MocoSpace has revealed that mobile social media is now considered a plausable channel through which to ditch your date- perfect for all those looking to be single on Valentines Day. It was also revealed that

The research performed on 10,000 of their users revealed that:

  • 34 percent of users admit to flirting with someone else while on a date, via their mobile phone.
  • 42 percent of unattached users will be looking to social networks for love on Valentine’s Day
  • 45 percent say they’ve used their mobile to break up with someone – mostly via text message
  • Men are more likely to break up via mobile than women

And who said romance is dead….

Media Week 2009

Friday, February 6th, 2009

360innovate had the honour of being invited to take part in the Glasgow University Media Week. Media Week is a series of talks, conferences, workshops and Q&A sessions open to everyone.

After much persuasion John (web design) and Andrew (online marketing) signed themselves up. They will be speaking on Friday the 13th (unlucky for some!!) at 2.30pm, the topic of choice “New Media for the Digital Age”. They are keeping the exact details of what exactly they are going to say under wraps even though we are all gagging for a sneaky preview but they are having none of it. Oh well, we’ll just have to get ourselves down to the John McIntyre Building in the Glasgow University to check it out for ourselves.

Introducing Andrew Thomson

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

We are very excited to say that the online marketing team welcomed a new member this month in the form of Andrew Thomson who will be taking the role of Head of Natural Search – very official sounding!

Coming to us from another internet marketing consultancy where he worked for several years, Andrew is very experienced in the online marketing industry having worked with some major household brands and we can’t wait to see what he brings to the 360 table.

So far we have gathered that Andrew enjoys Percy Pigs, never misses an episode of Hollyoaks and loves the odd debate or two… we think he will fit in perfectly!
