Introducing Andrew Thomson

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

We are very excited to say that the online marketing team welcomed a new member this month in the form of Andrew Thomson who will be taking the role of Head of Natural Search – very official sounding!

Coming to us from another internet marketing consultancy where he worked for several years, Andrew is very experienced in the online marketing industry having worked with some major household brands and we can’t wait to see what he brings to the 360 table.

So far we have gathered that Andrew enjoys Percy Pigs, never misses an episode of Hollyoaks and loves the odd debate or two… we think he will fit in perfectly!

The Association currently has 279 houses in the Cathcart area and manages a further 279 on behalf of Glasgow Housing Association.

The Remit

Cathcart & District Housing Association required a brand new content managed website and a new logo design. For ease and optimal functionality they required a website they could update and run themselves on a day-to-day basis without requiring any in-depth knowledge or training. It needed to be easy to navigate and accommodate visitors of all IT skill levels, combining a strong logical layout and visual elements to complement the large amount of text content that was envisaged for the site.

It is colourful and easy to navigate through; staff are able to update and manage the site with a content managed system that allows them to add/remove text or images quickly and when required.

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells

Friday, December 12th, 2008

With the entire office feeling in a very Christmassy mood it only feels appropriate to bring some of this festive cheer to the blog… What better way than with a few Christmas memories from the 360innovate team!

Pamela Weaver, SEO whizz kid

Have you ever been in a school nativity play? If yes, who were you?
Yes I was in the Primary 5 nativity play and I was a Sheppard, so I didn’t have any lines but at least I was in the last part! I’m not much of an actress!

The best Christmas gift you have ever received?
It has to be when I get an extra surprise present like my flat screen TV last year. It is always nice to receive an extra present!

Your earliest memory of Christmas as a child?
Earliest memory …….. I remember being obsessed with the toy dog called “Snatch” that had a lead and looked like it was walking! I loved that thing!

The best thing about Christmas is…
That you get to see all your friends and family and are allowed to eat as much as you want! The food is the one of the best things for me…lots of chocolate and puddings. And of course the Christmas movies are great too!

What’s on your Christmas list this year?
Lots of lovely clothes and a pair of sexy heels! And I need perfume! I usually ask for clothes so I am always quite easy to buy for.

Who will you be spending Christmas with, and where?
I will be spending Christmas with my family (there is around 10 of us) who all come to my house for Christmas dinner and some cocktails, then I usually go round to my boyfriend’s house to see his family too.

Calum MacLeod, SEO Master

Yes, I once played Joseph in our school nativity play.

The best Christmas gift you have ever received?
The Thunder Tank ‘Feel the power, hear the roar, Thunder Cats are Loose!’

Your earliest memory of Christmas as a child?
Questioning my Mum as to how Santa was going to get into our house when we don’t have a chimney. She told me she would leave the back door open, I then watched her leave the door open to make sure she wasn’t lying!

The best thing about Christmas is…
Food

What’s on your Christmas list this year?
Me and the missus are buying each other snowboarding lessons for Christmas.

Laura Davis, Marketing Magician

Yes, I have been in two school nativities, once as a wise man, another as a shepherd. I tried for Mary but I wasn’t good enough singer! :(

Either my trip to London, or the year I got the Lion King Super Nintendo game, Lion King Teddy and the Aladdin Dolls! Awesome!

My mum, dad and dogs! Woo Hoo!

What’s in a logo…

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

A logo can speak a thousand words, they exude the key elements of a company, their principles and what they stand for. More importantly a logo forms a key part of a customers first impression.

There are many different factors to consider when designing a logo, to have a symbol or to have text?? Often people can relate to a symbol more quickly than words, as symbols can be more memorable than just text, however, a logo cannot work in every scenario. In many cases text can be the most effective solution, using fonts as a means of expressing the company’s personality.

For example Marks and Spencer’s use a simple but sleek logo that consists of M&S. By using the initials of the name, there is almost a symbol logo being created, that has become their identity. This method of logo design can be applied to almost every company name.

Other key factors include the key design trends and traditions that the company’s industry has, this can be a valuable means of inspiration, or it can help identify an opportunity to differentiate the company from the competition.

The main objective for the graphic design team at 360innovate is to create a logo echoing the personality and identity of the company, designing something that will stand the test of time and that will grow with the company. We are no strangers to logo design; our most recent projects include Toa Wema and Caught U Lookin, with We Send Parcels in the pipeline. Not only do we do logo design but we also have OP Graphics as a client, using state of the art technology they can put your 360innovate designed logo on your vehicle livery.
